Summary of abilities My PhD research work is focused on the parametrisation of escape factors in the x-ray laser media and superthermal electron temperature measurements in high energy density plasmas. I have modeled escape probabilities and net radiative bracket for x-ray laser media. The net radiative bracket is a correction factor for the spontaneous transition probability to allow for the effect of radiation trapping on population densities. The escape probability is a factor, which multiplies the emission expected from optically thin plasma to allow for the effect of opacity on the emitted lines. I have simulated Ge resonance line intensity spectra by modifying the EHYBRID fluid and atomic code with the modeled net radiative bracket and post processing the output taking into account opacity using the modeled escape probabilities. I have used single photon counting technique to measure hot–electron temperatures and calibrate CCD detectors. Images have been grabbed from the energetic tail of the continuum emission of the plasma using two different kinds of CCD detectors. The number of the illuminated pixels has been kept low using suitable filters in front of the CCD to ensure that the possibility of finding two or more photon in one pixel in negligible. A code has been written which is able to search the images and reconstruct the photons whose energies have been spread over several pixels. I was able to calibrate the CCD detectors for their energy responses and measure hot-electron temperatures up to 25 KeV during several experiments undertaken at RAL. Generation of incoherent short duration x-ray pulses from various elements and their efficiency measurements is another branch that I have worked on it and published some papers. I had experiment on the improvement of some Ne-like and Ni-like x-ray lasers such as transient collisional pumping Ge Ne-like x-ray lasers and Sm Ni-like collisional x-ray laser. My recent area of research is in the continuation of the x-ray laser developments. Recently we have worked on the inner-shell 2s-hole x-ray lasers and also on the generation of a plasma density well for x-ray laser wave guiding
